Senator Mike Tipping, Maine State Senate, District 8
Senator Mike Tipping is a dedicated public servant and progressive leader representing Maine’s 8th Senate District. A lifelong Mainer, he was raised in Orono and is a proud graduate of Orono High School and RSU 26. He later earned his degree from Dalhousie University.
Senator Tipping has long been an advocate for social and economic justice in Maine. His work as a progressive activist has contributed to significant policy advancements, including leading efforts behind the successful citizen referendum to raise Maine’s minimum wage and advocating for universal home care for residents over the age of 65.
Deeply committed to public health and environmental stewardship, Senator Tipping has championed initiatives to reduce mercury pollution in the Penobscot River. In the Maine Senate, he currently serves as Chair of the Labor Committee, where he continues to fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and policies that uplift working families across the state.
