Meet Hayley Vecchione, BSN, RN
Hayley is a Director for ANA-Maine as well as Membership Committee Chair for ANA-Maine. She is a new graduate, and she previously served as the Undergraduate Representative for ANA-Maine. She is also a proud scholarship winner from ANA-Maine, attesting to her professionalism and meaningful contributions to the nursing profession and advancing health.
What Excites Me About Nursing
What excites me most about nursing is the constant opportunity to be challenged and to grow. Healthcare is always evolving, with new evidence and best practices shaping the way we care for patients. This dynamic environment allows me to continuously expand my knowledge while integrating new approaches with my own clinical experiences.
I also value the relationships built along the way. As healthcare changes, I have the privilege of learning from experienced nurses and collaborating with a wide range of healthcare professionals. Nursing truly is a team sport, and that sense of teamwork is what I love most.
Why I’m Involved with ANA-Maine
Being part of ANA-Maine has connected me with a strong community of nurses who share a common goal: improving patient care while supporting one another as professionals. As a newer nurse, involvement in ANA has provided meaningful opportunities to develop leadership skills, build a professional network, and witness the power of nurses coming together, from the local to the national level, to advance the profession and strengthen standards of care.
Professional Background & Interests
I earned my BSN in Nursing with a minor in Psychology from the University of Maine and currently practice in a Surgical Trauma ICU in the Portland area. I am passionate about supporting nursing students and advocating for nurse mental health and well-being.
In addition to my clinical role, I serve as the Membership Committee Chair for ANA-Maine, as well as the Governance Committee Chair for Sigma Theta Tau, Omicron Xi Chapter, where I enjoy contributing to professional development and nursing leadership initiatives.
Outside of work, I’m a proud dog lover, which brings balance and joy to my life.
