Meet Heather Fogg

Heather Fogg, RN, BSN, CFCS is a registered nurse, entrepreneur, and certified foot care specialist who is the founder and owner of Fundamental Foot Care, a medically based foot care practice located in Hampden, Maine. With a strong commitment to preventative healthcare, she established the practice in 2019 to address an often-overlooked gap in the healthcare system, routine foot care for older adults and individuals with chronic health conditions.
Before founding her practice, she worked in medical-surgical and cardiac nursing, where she witnessed the significant impact that preventable foot problems can have on mobility, independence, and overall health. Motivated to improve outcomes for patients, she created Fundamental Foot Care to provide compassionate, medically informed foot care in clinics, homes, and care facilities throughout Maine. In addition to caring for patients, she trains other nurses in foot care specialties and advocates for greater awareness of preventative foot health as an essential part of overall wellness.
What excites you about nursing?
What excites me about nursing is the values that guide our profession. Professionalism, integrity and purpose is at the core of everything we do. I believe that is why nursing has been the most trusted profession for the last 24 years. What we stand for really means something.
Why ANA-Maine?
As nurses, we have so many avenues we can take and utilize our education and training to care for and impact the lives of others. Yet, with diversity, it is important to remember what brings us together, what we have in common and that we feel supported, no matter what our path. ANA-Maine offers that support. Not only does ANA-Maine support Maine’s nurses, but they help our nurses advocate for progress locally and on a national level.
What you want members to know about you?
I didn’t become a registered nurse until I was 48 years old and got my bachelor’s degree at 55. Yet, I couldn’t be more passionate about the work I do as a nurse and an entrepreneur. My goal is to continue upholding nursing values, empowering nurses to go after what it is they want and be proud of their contributions to our profession and to our society.
